Choline from Phosphatidylcholine PPC and GPC are Biologically Preferred
Choline and especially Phospholipid Choline is considered an essential nutrient and is one of the few nutrients allowed by the Food and Drug Administration and European Food Safety Authority to make health claims. Choline has many important roles in the healthy structure and function of the human body and is recognized worldwide as a critical nutrient in prenatal and infant nutrition.

Phospholipid choline in the phospholipid (PPC) and phosphoryl choline (GPC) forms are blood stable (stable in the water phase) and biologically preferred sources of the critical nutrient.
Choline in other forms and at higher doses is not stable. What isn’t immediately used for acetylcholine (an important neurotransmitter) synthesis is ultimately converted in the body to phosphatidylcholine for safe and stable storage and to be used for cell membrane formation, repair and regeneration.
When the body is calling for a choline source it will sacrifice phosphatidylcholine by removing the two fatty acids (lipids) to create GPC (Glycero Phospho Choline), which is the water-soluble head group (phosphorus, choline, glycerol backbone) of the phosphatidylcholine molecule. The GPC molecule is then further broken down to make choline available for acetylcholine synthesis and neurotransmission. Choline, phosphatidylcholine (PC) and Glycerophosphocholine (GPC) are in a constant state of flux, forming and reforming, and working synergistically to keep our 50 trillion plus cells metabolically stable and functioning properly.
